Privacy policy

Last updated: April 2026

Yegonota is built on a simple principle: your visitors' data is not ours to keep. Here is exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why.

What we collect

When someone visits a site using Yegonota, we collect:

  • Page URL (e.g. /blog/my-post)
  • Timestamp of the visit
  • Screen width (a number like 1440 — not a device identifier)
  • Browser family (e.g. Chrome, Firefox — not the version)
  • Operating system family (e.g. macOS, Windows — not the version)
  • Approximate country (see below)
  • UTM parameters if present in the URL
  • A temporary visit estimate (see below)

For click and scroll events (if the site owner has installed the tracking script):

  • Type of interaction (outbound link, download, button click, scroll depth)
  • Label of the element clicked (e.g. "Subscribe", "Download PDF")
  • Target URL for link clicks

What we don't collect

  • No cookies — ever
  • No IP addresses stored or logged — network addresses are used briefly server-side to estimate visits and detect country, then immediately discarded
  • No fingerprinting
  • No cross-site tracking
  • No personal data of any kind
  • No advertising data

The tracking script is served from a dedicated subdomain (script.yegonota.com) rather than the main yegonota.com domain. This means browser cookie isolation rules prevent any cookies from the main domain from ever being attached to tracking requests. Nothing is stored in your visitors' browsers — no cookies, no sessionStorage, no local storage of any kind.

How we count visits

When a visitor loads a page, their browser automatically sends a network request to our server. We combine four pieces of information from that request: the network address, browser type, screen size, and the current 6-hour time window. These are run through a one-way mathematical function. The result is a temporary code that:

  • Cannot be reversed to recover any of the original values
  • Is stored only on our servers to group pageviews into visits
  • Is never placed in the visitor's browser
  • Resets every 6 hours automatically
  • Is never shared with anyone

Nothing is stored in your visitors' browsers.

Country detection

When your visitors load a page with Yegonota installed, their browser sends a network request to our server — as it does with any third-party script. We use the network address from that request to look up the approximate country, then discard it immediately. We never store it, never log it, and never share it.

We only save the 2-letter country code (for example: NL, DE, US) using a local database provided by MaxMind (GeoLite2). Country detection is approximate — we cannot determine a city or address.

This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from maxmind.com. Licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Data retention

How long we keep data depends on the plan of the site owner:

  • Starter plan: 60 days
  • Pro plan: 2 years
  • Premium plan: unlimited

After the retention period, data is permanently deleted.

Third-party services

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
